Interested in finding out more about this talk - well here's an overview to outline the aims and the content it offers. Feedback on this talk has been amazing from clubs across the UK.
This is a new talk and will be available from September 2026

This post covers - Black & White or Colour (How do you choose?) Camera Club Talk Overview which will give those of you looking to book this talk a good insight as to what to expect. This talk is an ideal follow on from the ever popular The Truth is Black and White and Architecture & Street photography as it combines new material that covers these two amazingly popular talks and tries to answer the question that comes up time and time again! How do you decide if it going to be black & white or colour?
Using new images that build on the popularity of the images from the previous talks we look at how and why we make the decision to go B&W or colour. Lots of oppertunity for engagement, questions and discussion
Duration can be from 90min to 2 hours all depending on the group size and the length of your meetings.
So whats the key Aim:This was put together with the aim of getting photographers to think more about the what, the why and the how they go about their photography. Trying to get people to be more considered more mindful in their approach with the underlying principle being:
Develop your style
Take the images you like
Be the photographer you want to be
The evening is broken down into the following sections:
Introduction
Setting the aims
Whats the basic theory behind colour and black and white
What aspects does theory say should influence our decision
Look at a range of images and see if we can agree as to weather the correct decision was made?
Each section is evaluated using my experiences and images as a platform for discussion. The talk will result in a lively and engaging evening and for those clubs that have already had the two talks listed above then this is an ideal follow on.
