I was recently in Sussex and took the opportunity to visit Lee millers House - Farleys House, which was the home of the famous photographer Lee Miller and her husband the surrealist artist Roland Penrose.

The house is located Muddles Grn, Chiddingly, Muddles Green, Lewes BN8 6HW

Access is ok with some uneven floors and narrow passageways.
Our visit
Plenty of parking space in a rough gravel car park and a very uninspiring site as the carpark is sounded by several craft shop a cafe and an old barn building (entrance to farleys house).

Opposite the entrance to the house and next to the shop is the exhibition space.

When you enter the barn to get access to the house you will find a cafe and exhibition space

Your visit is by guided tour and you are directed to the house where you wait in the shop for your guide.

The shop sells a range of books, prints and merchandise.
No photography is allowed in the house.
The property is an old Georgian farm house and it looks and feel like miller still lives in the house with all the kitchen cupboards still containing her ingredients fro her latter years career as a gourmet cook.
The surprising aspect in the house were the works by the surrealist artists such as Penrose and Picasso.

The tour was very well done and highly detailed lasting around 45min.
The house contains are large number of Lee's prints and personal items such as cameras and army issue items from her time as a war correspondent.
The house was well worth the visit and gave a real incite into the person.

After visiting the house you have time to wander through the extensive gardens.

The garden also doubles as a sculpture park.

A visit to the house is a great addition to a trip to the London exhibition of Lee millers work

To see more about her work also visit Lee Miller.
